This is an entry-level woodworking class for beginners. In this class you will make 3 inlays with wood, polymer clay, and powdered stones suitable for use on a small box or other wood project. The process of engraving the substrate with the laser will be demonstrated and the students will use the laser to vector cut the wooden inlay for one of the 3 inlays.
In this one day class you’ll make 3 small inlays. In the process, you’ll learn how to:
- Set up the laser for basic rastor and vector cutting
- Rastor cut with the laser the substrate for inlay
- Vector cut walnut with the laser to serve as an inlay material
- Prepare the inlay substrate for polymer clay inlay material
- Work polymer clay to assure good material adhesion
- Bake the polymer clay to cure it
- Inlay various powdered stones using CA glue
- Finish each inlay as shown in the photos
